This means that the entire chain of events, from microbiome function to host response and measurable impact, must be traceable. It's about understanding the intricate dance of biology, not just the correlation.

This shift in perspective is particularly relevant when discussing healthy aging. Aging is not a linear decline; it's a series of pressure points and transitions. Chang cited a longitudinal study that revealed two critical checkpoints in our lifespan: around the age of 40 and 60. During these transitions, the body undergoes significant disruptions, affecting lipid metabolism, alcohol metabolism, immune regulation, and more.

"Healthy aging is about resilience," Chang said. "It's about how well our bodies can handle these biological challenges and recover in time for the next one."

TCI's approach to tackling these challenges is innovative. They developed TCR711, a patented probiotic strain, to target two common aging stresses: fat accumulation and alcohol. In a randomized study, TCR711 showed an impressive 8.7% improvement in liver-fat outcome for adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The study also suggested that the probiotic's impact extended beyond the liver, influencing the gut ecosystem and microbial metabolic capacity.

In another study, TCR711 demonstrated its ability to enhance alcohol clearance, with detectable changes in alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase-related capabilities.

But what makes TCI's approach truly unique is their focus on functional delivery. Chang emphasized that engineering a functional probiotic is about more than just survival; it's about ensuring the probiotic strain does a specific job.
